Profile

For over 25 years I have been developing my approach to watercolour. My watercolours rely on a balance of tehniques-Soft watercolour blends contrasting fluid colour, hard and soft edges, transparent washes and bold strokes. I am not a watercolour purist. I often use the taboo titanium white to achieve rich body colour or use opaque mixes to form a veil to the underpainting. Also I may use ink, guache, oil pastel or even liquid gold and silver leaf mixed in gum arabic to achieve a desired effect.
My subject vary from the coast to the vibrant city around me to my roots in New England. I am an artist member of the American Society of Marine Artists.
